The demand for wireless speakers has really exploded in recent years. Smartphones, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and online streaming services offer endless wireless possibilities and give you access to a world of music – very simple and everything at your fingertips, whether you are at home or on the go.
There are wireless speakers in endless quantities and sizes, with different technologies and of varying quality. So it is not surprising at all if you have lost the overview a bit. Fortunately, there are a number of useful rules of thumb to start with. And of course you can always walk into one of our stores. We are happy to help you with a solution that suits you perfectly.
The most important thing to look for, whether you choose wireless or not, is that it is a serious product designed to give good sound. And if you really want good sound, you definitely need a stereo system with two speakers. Otherwise you will never get that beautiful three-dimensional sound image that makes it seem ‘like you are there yourself’. Some wireless speakers can be paired so that they give real stereo sound, but then you have to buy two of them.
If you are considering a wireless speaker, it is also wise to consider whether you want a here-and-now solution, or whether you want to extend to a multiroom system for example. Wireless speakers from Sonos, HEOS by Denon or Bluesound are as simple as other wireless speakers, but offer many more options – for example, by being supplemented with additional wireless speakers (and streamers) throughout the house.
Bluetooth wireless speakers with battery have also become increasingly popular in recent years. And yes, they are very useful. For example to take music with you on holiday or if you leave for a weekend. At Hi-Fi Klubben we have a wide choice of this type of portable speakers. But they are not suitable as speakers for your stereo system – they are simply too small for that.
Many manufacturers swear that their all-in-one speakers have a great sound and a super deep bass. And it’s true, using digital lap means, these compact speakers can sound pretty decent, especially for their size – but it is and remains manipulated sound, and is therefore not ‘the real deal’. We guarantee that you hear the difference. On the other hand, if you are looking for background music in a small room, these wireless speakers are a very smart solution.
